How to hook up a gas line in kitchen for a gas range?

We just bought a new construction home and am picking out appliances. I prefer to cook on a gas stove vs electric. There is no gas line in th kitchen but the home does have a gas furnance so there is gas coming into the home. How easy or hard is it to put a line into the kitchen and what is all involved?

First, you need to be a licensed plumber.
Second gas lines can be very dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing
That being said, someone needs to put in a T so you can get gas to the stove, you’ll need at least one shutoff for the stove. Two would be better, one where the T is and another behind the stove.
You really really need to have an expert do this for you.
I’ve been a handy man for over thirty years (boy my wife is old) and I don’t do gas lines.
Pipes have to be placed from the furnace to the kitchen. Where I live it’s forbidden to do this yourself. You have to ask a qualified technician. Gas is still dangerous if not placed right. I always coocked on gas. When i moved to a new home there was no gas. Then i buyed induction. It’s expensive to buy, and you need to buy pan’s who can be used on induction. It heats as fast as gas, and in consumes much less elektricity than classic elektric or keramic.
Having done it myself, I know it can be done, but I’m not sure I recommend it. Normally it is a permit job (for safety reasons) done by a licensed plumber. In my case the pipes were all exposed in the crawl space of an old house and I was removing the lines feeding old space heaters and front yard light and moving/adding lines for water heater and gas clothes dryer and gas oven and cook top. Black iron pipe and lots of fittings, lots of pipe dope and soapy water for testing fittings (and supposedly test with higher than line pressure before letting gas in.) Cut off valves on end of every line and add flex to get from end to fixture.
There is a magic fitting called a union that looks like a big nut on the pipe which allows connection of two pipes without twisting either, which can really save one when pipes are T and elbow and nothing can be turned.
Depending on your location and code, you may be able to use copper flare, but never, ever, use copper with soldered fittings that will come apart in a fire, feeding the fire, and do not use the silvery galvanized pipe, which flakes junk in the presence of natural gas.
it is fairly easy if you have any knowledge of pipe fitting but can be dangerous if you do not know what you r doing. i recommend calling your gas company first who may do it for free or give you a list of reputable contractors. if not there are numerous ways of doing it. 1st shut off gas at supply. 2nd install tee at service line run new line to under stove in basement or crawl space 3rddrill hole in floor running riser and local valve above floor behind appliance. by flex gas supply line and hook up to stove. crack gas supply apply liquid detergent to all joints if you have leak bubbles will form. if none you r finished. IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE CALL GAS COMPANY
hire a certified person to run it–they will go under house and tap into line and run it up through floor where stove is and add connectors
FORGET ABOUT DOING IT YOURSELF, IT TAKES KNOWLEDGE ABOUT RUNNING GAS, AND THE THREADING EQUIPMENT IS NOT WORTH BUYING FOR ONE JOB.PLUS IF IT LEAKS AND SOME ONE GETS HURT/KILLED AND HOUSE GETS BURN/DESTROYED, IS IT WORTH IT TO SAVE 500 DOLLARS
I reccomend going with a professional. Gas is really tricky, especially if you have zero experience. It usually involves turning the gas off and re-plumbing a line from the existing gas source. With it being new construction, a permit will probably need to be pulled so the work can be inspected. That way, if any thing does happen with the new gas line, your insurance should cover it.
