Why not paint the cabinets turquoise? It was very popular in the 50's and 60's to have colored cabinets. Now days it's just something fun and unexpected. Here's a link to colored kitchen cabinets but the turquoise was too blue to me. I was thinking a color more along the 'mint' cabinets they have:

You asked how to add turquoise to the mix and I would think you could do that easily by changing curtains or putting some throw pillows on your couch. You can also look for some canisters in a turquoise shade. Check out the Link below...Ginny's has all sorts of appliances (the one below is a blender) in turquoise, from bread boxes, mixers etc. They would allow you to blend your colors without spending a fortune ... and really the only colors you have to worry about are the mauve and the turquoise because brown is neutral - any color you throw on that is good. The second link is window treatments...you could skip the drape and just do the header...this has turquoise with a blend of other colors that would go with your mauve and brown.

You didn't mention the current color of your cabinets, but one option is to paint them, and if you want something fresh and clean, white is always nice!

Have fun.

I would also recommend changing the countertops. There are inexpensive ways to do this.

You can get really beautiful butcher block counters that you can stain to match anything for really cheap at IKEA. They would go great in your home since its an old home.

Plus they also have pre fab granit that you can get.

It will add value to your home and make it look much nicer. Plus you can match them with anything.

If keeping your counters is a must, go with colors that have more brown in them and less red. It will make your counters look less mauve looking.
