What was 1920’s home decor like?
I am moving to a house which has been kept exactly as it was when it was built in the 20’s (with the exception of a few appliances, although the stove and fridge are from the 70’s). I would like to make it look close to the way it would have in the 20’s. It’s located just outside a very large farming are in eastern PA if that contributes to how the decor may have looked. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks.
Any special accommodations for a salamander broiler in a residential setting?
I’d like to have a salamander broiler in our kitchen when we remodel. The cost for the actual broiler isn’t prohibitive, however if there are a lot of other hidden costs, I’d like to go ahead and nix the idea. We had to pay an electrician to hardwire our stove when we first moved into our house. For the price we paid, I didn’t know that we wouldn’t get a plug with our stove. Also, We had to pay the gas company to install a gas tank and line to our home. We knew about this cost, but at the end of the day the stove ended up costing about $500 more than we initially thought. So I just wanted to know what I was getting into with wanting a salamander type broiler. Does anyone have one or install “high end” appliances in homes? What other costs are associated with a salamander??? Thanks
Anyone regret buying stainless steel appliances?
I love the look of stainless steel appliances…but I have seen them in other homes, and they always look dirty, smudged etc. I have heard it is really tough to keep them from looking like this. Anybody regret buying them due to the cleaning factor? And can anyone offer alternatives to get the look without the smudges or without going to basic white??
